Deaf Rugby

Scott and Elizabeth Shoesmith, on 27th April, attended a World Cup Deaf Rugby 15s game between Wales and Australia. It was the final game after a week of Rugby 7s matches between deaf teams from all over the world. England, Wales, Japan, Hong Kong, Italy, Argentina, Fiji, South Africa, Mongolia, Ghana, Kenya, and of course Australia. After attending the event Elizabeth said; “It was a privilege to observe the comradeship amongst all these nationalities. And language was no barrier, as they mimed or took out their phones to write things down for each other. Last night was a little insight into what it might be like if we successfully created a world where there were no barriers to inclusion.”
